The second week in March was all about Disneyland for our family. We headed to California with the whole Carter clan and Grandma Zelda. We only missed Uncle Kenny who is on his mission in Canada, baby Kyson who stayed with his grandma in Logan, and Mckay who stayed with Grandma Beth in Cedar. Mckay was going through a grumpy stage where he hated the stroller and hated walking. He would have been miserable especially since he couldn't ride very many rides. He had a great time at home with Grandma, Grandpa, Grandma Murray and Laura. They took really good care of him and now he's not scared of them anymore!
Since our group was so big we went into the parks as individual families and Grandma Emi, Grandpa Curtis and Grandma Zelda split their time between all of the families. We love California Adventure so we picked to go there first. Everyone else went to Disneyland so it was just the four of us for the first couple of days.
First off, Libby and I rode the trackers and waited to see Sophia while Dustin and Trevin got fast passes for Cars. When Sophia came out Libby got so excited that she ran to greet her and totally butted the poor girl in front of us in line.
We talked Libby into going on Tower of Terror. She was just the right height to make it on.
It was a little scarier that she thought it would be. She cried after the ride was over every time. But she kept wanting to ride it again, go figure.
The crowds were small but we still had to wait in line here and there. Trevin decided to handle the lines by being really silly and doing the "Tuckle" - tucking your shirt into your underwear and waiting for the funny looks people give you. Libby on the other hand just got annoyed.
Once we got on the ride she was much happier.
We rode the Ariel ride three times! It's Libby's favorite (after Tower of Terror of course). We got stuck on it every time. It was closed the next day.
The longest line we had to wait in was for the Anna and Elsa meet and greet. Libby loved it, Trevin was super mad that it took over an hour out of our day.
Dustin and I both agree that Cars is the best ride out of all the rides in both parks. It has fast parts, and cute parts, and beautiful parts. It's just the best and it makes my hair totally crazy!
Dustin's stomach doesn't handle the spinning rides very well so he sat out for the Carousel and Farris Wheel, (we didn't want a repeat of our last Disney trip) but the rest of us enjoyed them.
The parade in California Adventure was so fun! I've been waiting for ever to post this because I have the best video of Libby dancing with the parade music. It's super cute and she is crazy! But it won't load, boo.
We went to Disneyland for the second day.
Space Mountain was a little scary for Libby the first time. But she really liked the build up, feeling like you were in a space station or rocket launch so she put up with going on the ride. She ended up loving the ride part eventually.
We missed the Finding Nemo submarines on our last trip so we made sure to get there early this time. It was really fun, long, and cool - what a nice break from the heat.
We also missed Autopia on our last trip so we headed there next.
Ahhh! Trevin driving. Watch out pedestrians.
We almost had a repeat of the Farris Wheel incident with Dustin on Star Tours. I thought it was awesome but Dustin could only stomach it once.
Tom Sawyer island is always fun. We didn't realize how many caves there are. We had a fun time exploring them and finding lots of treasure.
Trevin was so sad that Splash Mountain was closed this trip. It was his favorite ride last time. Last time Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was closed but it was open for this trip. It ended up being Trevin's favorite ride (and California Screamin) this trip.
While we rode the Dumbos Dustin waited in line for Libby to meet Cinderella. Trevin wasn't getting anywhere near Cinderella so I made him take a picture in Dumbo.
Libby loved Cinderella so much she gave her a flower. Cinderella was sweet and put it in her pocket.
Trevin almost pulled the sword out of the stone. ;)
Jungle Crusie'n.
Libby was more excited about getting cotton candy than she was about anything else all day.
We went back to our room for dinner and this was our view of the park.
But we just couldn't stay away especially because we had fast passes for Indiana Jones. So we headed back and rode Pirates of the Caribbean and Indiana Jones. Poor Libby was just too tired though.
For our third day we went back to Disneyland and spent the day with the grandparents. Libby and I were the only ones willing to spin around in the rockets.
We just happened to run into Bryce and Shelynne while visiting Tinker Bell so we got pictures with Brylynne.
Of course we had to take the whole crew to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad since it was Trevin's favorite. We never rode it with out fast passes and we just walked right on, past a huge line of sweaty people, every time. It was great!
One the last day of the trip everyone else went to the Newport Beach Temple and the beach. I don't love the beach and we all hate traffic so we stayed at the hotel to swim, build forts and just relax before our long drive home.
We had such a good time! It was hard to leave Mckay for so long, for us and for Grandma, so we were glad to get home.
