Birthdays! 9 - 2008

September is a month full of birthdays in our family. We've eaten so much cake I don't care to see another piece for a long time. The first birthday of the month was Dustin's Grandad on the 11th. We had a big BBQ in his backyard and all the family that lives in Cedar came. Sorry we didn't get any pictures of Grandad on his birthday he was a little busy.

Then was my Grandma Murray's Birthday on the 13th. Just my family went over to her house for more cake. My Aunt Susie and my cousin Jamie (whose birthday is also in September) came down that night for a doctors appointment the next day so we got to see them too. Trevin loved my cousin Jamie's little girl Chloe. He wanted her to hold him but he wanted to look at her at the same time, that is why his head looks all weird in the picture. My little sister Laura was jealous that Trev liked Chloe so much so she was pouting.

Next was MY birthday on the 21st. Dustin made me a really good breakfast, my brother in law Kenny made some birthday cup cakes, and we had more cake up at my mom's house and I opened presents that I LOVED. Finally it was Dustin's birthday on the 27th. Dustin's mom got us all tickets to Les Miserables in St. George two days before his birthday. It was by far the best production I have ever seen at Tuachan. They are really stepping it up.

Then on Dustin's actual birthday Trevin helped him open his presents and we went out to dinner were we had more cake (actually it was pie but what's the difference).

And finally on Sunday we had a combine birthday party at Dustin's Grandma Zelda's house. It is a tradition to have combine birthday parties at her house on Sunday evenings. Of course we had more cake there too. I made this cake. I know I should be a pro, just kidding. A word to the wise homemade cream cheese icing does not stick well, thus the cake looked like a landslide in progress. Well maybe I'll do better next year. There are actually a lot more birthdays in our family this month but these are the only ones we were there for.

Sleeping 9-14-08

I just put Trevin down for the night in his new toddler bed. I think that he really likes it (cross your fingers). Trevin has been such a good little boy except when it comes to sleeping. He is the most stubborn baby in the world. From the day he was born he insisted on being held while he slept. If I ever wanted him to stay awake all I had to do was just put him in his own bed and he would be wide awake and screaming his head off. I didn't take to kindly to having someone attached to me 24 - 7 (come on can't I have a break even in my sleep?) so I started dreading the night. I had two choices listen to him scream all night in the crib (seriously he can scream for hours I'm not kidding) or let him sleep/roll all over next to me keeping me awake all night. I think that he might have spent a total of 20 hours in his crib and at least 12 of them were spent screaming. We tried everything including drugging him to sleep (don't worry it was the doctors idea) and then we had the amazing idea to get him a big boy bed and it worked. He still wakes up occasionally and comes in our bed but at least we get a few hours of uninterrupted sleep! YEA!! Now on to breaking the Binky habit.

This is how close Trev likes to sleep. It's cute in a picture but it is NOT cute to experience it every night for almost two years especially when you add the constant rolling factor.

The Rodeo 9 - 5 - 2008

My Mom asked us if we wanted to go to the Rodeo this weekend and we were a little skeptical but we ended up loving it. It was really pretty fun. We all decided that it was fun but we probably won't be regulars. We figure that one Rodeo a year is just right.

Trevin loved the big horses and he loved when they would ride the horses fast. He was clapping and laughing all night.

Trevin loved the bull riding until someone got bucked off and then he got so mad he started hitting people and crying. I guess he was just concerned that someone was going to get hurt. But he loved the bulls when there wasn't a rider on them. As we walked by them Trevin yelled MOO MOO!

You see some very interesting things at the Rodeo. My favorite of all was this guys mullet in front of us. He was almost buzzed on top and then had hair past his shoulders in the back. It was AWESOME. It takes some serious confidence to rock that do. Sorry the picture is so blurry I was trying to take the picture fast enough that nobody would notice and I was laughing really hard.

My Mom and Laura and Madeline (Jessie's friend) and Jessie. Poor Madeline was late and missed a lot because the doctor was at her house and then she ended up having a blood clot and had to spend most of the next week in the hospital. But hey at least she got her Rodeo fix in first.

Labor Day 9 - 1 - 08

We spent Labor Day at the cabin with Dustin's family and the Shipps. Ryan bought Micah's four-wheeler and we all took a turn taking it for a ride. Trevin normally loves four-wheelers but this one went so fast he got a little scared. After a few rides he wasn't scared at all and was having lots of fun. He was making four-wheeler sounds and revving the engine while we were in neutral.
