The Truth About Trevin

Trevin is ALL BOY. He loves everything manly. He can spot a backhoe, trackhoe, dump truck, or compactor from miles away and he knows the difference between them all. He really, really loves when he sees a piece of machinery on a trailer being pulled by another piece of machinery or a diesel. In fact I'm pretty sure that his most favorite thing in the whole world is trailers. He only likes his hot wheel cars that can pull a trailer or can ride on a trailer.
He also loves to dress up in work pants (any pair of pants with holes in the knees, which he begs to wear every day) and work boots and go to work with dad (which is usually just on a Saturday morning to check on a job or to do some serious yard work at our house). Then he gets to ride in the equipment, not just look at it! "Best.Day.Ever", is a direct quote from Trevin after he gets to spend the day working with dad.
Trevin is super creative. He loves to build huge structures with Lego's, or blocks, or blankets, or cardboard boxes, or anything at all. He is a born contractor! He has tons of energy and bores quickly so he can do a lot of damage in just a little time. It isn't uncommon to have Lego's, cars, blocks and couch cushions all over the front room, books and magazines all over his room and a big pillow and blanket fort in our bedroom all at the same time. But he is also getting so good at cleaning up after himself. He used
say, "I have to clean up all by myself?!" and then run off and cry until we just cleaned up for him. But since we started giving him an allowance (4 dollars a week if and only if he does EVERYTHING on his chore chart) he is so responsible for himself.
Trevin is still really shy. At Laura's birthday party he waited all day to get his face painted and then he was too shy to look at or talk to the face painter. So I had to tell her he wanted a sword and she just painted it on his hand. He gets so shy around adults. Whenever they ask him how old he his we have to beg him to just hold up four fingers. But around other kids he has no fear. His  best friend lives right behind us and they play so cute with each other. Trevin also loves going to primary and can't wait to start pre-school this fall.
Trevin loves to get new toys, and since we make him buy any new toys with his own money now that he gets an allowance, his favorite store is DI. Once he found a bow and arrow there but he forgot his money so I told him we would have to go back another time and get it. From that day on he has referred to DI as "the bow and arrow store." The next time we went back the bow was gone. He was crushed until he found this dinosaur that lights up, then he was totally fine.
Trevin is such a sweet boy. He has been having some pretty bad luck lately. He has some pretty severe cavities and has had to have a lot of dental work (we brush his teeth really well everyday I promise he just has weak teeth) but the dentist (and Aunt Meagan who works for the dentist) can't believe what a good patient he is. He never even moves! Trevin is unbelievably well behaved. He is such a good kid and he is the best big brother. We love him so much!

A Little About Libby

Today was Libby's first day in Nursery! I can't believe that she is growing up so fast. She also had a doctors appointment this week. She made it back on the charts for weight (the 3rd percentile) and is in the 50th percentile for length. I've been thinking about how much she has changed in just the past little while.
She thinks she is a big kid now. She will let almost anyone play with her but she loves to play with my mom most of all. Every time she sees my mom she can't wait for her to hold her and she won't leave her for anything, not even to come to me. She also loves to play with Laura and Trevin. She even let us dress her up in Trevin's old Halloween costume.
Since she learned to walk she has been a much happier baby.  She is just starting to climb up on things and get into everything. She loves to explore. But she hates grass and our garden. They make her feel so unstable, she only likes to walk on side walks and level surfaces.
She is so affectionate. She gives kisses non-stop, all you have to do is ask for a kiss and she puckers right up. She has a little doll stroller that she loves to stroll her babies and stuff animals in all over our house. Whenever she sees her babies or something she thinks is really cute she jabbers in a really high voice and then kisses it and holds it up for everyone else to kiss. She can't say very many words yet but that doesn't stop her from talking all the time. The words she can say are: me, mine, no, baby, doggy and daddy. She loves saying daddy and she says it in her "that's so cute" high pitched voice.
I don't want to mislead anyone she is still quite the high maintenance baby. She has zero patience and insists everything be done her way. She still refuses to be feed anything but milk but she is much more willing to feed herself now. Anytime she gets hungry she pulls her highchair out from under the kitchen sink and hands it up forcefully. She makes some huge messes when she eats because when she is done she pulls the tray off of the high chair and holds it upside down over her head.
She is such a handful but we love her anyway.

Graduation

I finally did it. I graduated from college! I had super mixed feelings about walking in the graduation ceremonies. I remember thinking after high school graduation that it was a big production and very silly, so I vowed to myself that would never participate in a graduation ceremony ever again. I also felt very silly being part of such a big production after I only took one or two classes every semester and I didn't even try very hard to do well in those classes. I just did what I had to do to get the grade and tried to just have fun with it. Plus it took me SEVEN years to graduate not including a whole years worth of credits I got in high school. But in the end my family wanted me to walk and I wanted a picture of me in cap and gown to hang next to my diploma on a wall in our basement next to Dustin's. So I ended up walking just for a picture. Yes I am shallow.
It ended up being really, really sunny that day so I was squinting in every picture. I should have just stuck with my gut and not walked. I felt totally silly the whole time and the pictures didn't even turn out.  Next time I won't let my vanity make decisions for me.
The only thing that made all of the ceremonies bearable was that I got to sit next to my brother in-law Bryce and his wife Shelynne. They both graduated from the college of science too. Shelynne and I both got degrees in Nutrition and Bryce got his in Biology (and they are now at the University of Utah in Medical School!).

We had a big dinner at my parents house after the ceremonies and all the family came over.

P.S. Last year when I was in the program by mistake I graduated with honors. This year I had the same GPA but I didn't have any honors. I guess I know which program I'll be keeping.
