A Mega Update: May, June, July and August

May

I was called as the Girls Camp Director for 2014. We decided to do a big hike before camp just to get that requirement out of the way before camp. Brother Butler from the bishopric, his son Mason and his wife Cinnamon, who was a YW leader as well, took 8 YW, Dustin and I, and Sis. Daynes (another leader) to hike the West Rim of Zion.

We started so early in the morning that it was still dark!

This hike had such amazing views, my camera skills lack too much to do the views justice.

The West Rim Hike and the Angles Landing Hike meet up. Most of the hike is down hill. I never knew how much I liked hiking up hill! It was really hard but really fun. The scouts in our ward have done this hike numerous times but we beat their best time by and hour. Brother Butler said he is only taking girls from now on! Luckily the virgin river runs across the end of the hike so we could cool off!

Also in May this crazy humming bird kept flying into our living room window. It would fall to the deck, recover, and then fly into the window again!

Trevin was on a soccer team for the first time this year. He loved it! Almost all of the boys on his team went to his school and he already knew them. They played so well together. They were really good too. I think they only lost two games but most of the time they scored in the double digits.

Three Peaks Elementary School Field Day

Trev ran two races. He got second place in both. His best friend Esteban was the only one to beat him. He was pretty happy with second.

Libby loved playing with her cute friends while we watched Trev race.

The last day at our old house.

June
The Grand Opening of the Boulevard.
Dustin was in charge of this building. It took almost a year to build and turned out so beautiful. The whole town turned out to get their first look (and to get some good deals and free stuff). The line strung out from the front doors, around the huge parking lot and out into the street!

Living in an apartment for the summer took a little adjusting to. We hit up every park in town multiple times!

Everyone who hadn't already left for Lake Powell came bright and early to see Kenny Carter set apart as a missionary.

Kenny was such a tough guy! He didn't cry at all until Trevin, Libby and Mckay gave him a good-bye hug. He shed a few tears and then tucked it all back in and was ready to head out. I'm sure he never cried at all on the way to the MTC or when his parents dropped him off, wink.

As soon as Kenny was off we headed over to the Lake. Jesse brought his friend T.O. along for the fun and Libby really liked him! She pretty much never left him alone for the whole trip. Any time he sat down she jumped on to his lap. T.O. was a really good sport about it.

There were a few too many people on this trip for us all to fit on the boat at one time. So one day when everyone else went out on the boat we drove our car over to the beach at Lone Rock. We were super smart and thought we could drive our little car all the way to the beach. Well we sunk in the sand and had to flag down a truck to pull us out. It was so embarrassing! It was really hot so we didn't even last at the beach for very long. We got all the beach time in that we wanted and we are never trying that again.

Since girls camp wasn't too far away we decided to take a quick trip up the mountain to check out the camp site. We booked the group site in the Te-ah campground at Navajo Lake.  After doing a few things to prepare for camp we went over to the lake so Trevin could try out fishing, something he had really wanted to try for a long time.

My family was coming up that evening to have a little cook out so we took a little nap in the truck while we waited for them. Moving from our old house to the apartment was a little confusing for Libby. After sitting in the truck for about 20 min. Libby asked, "Do we live in the truck now?"

The camp host told us that there was a short - one mile hike just across from our campsite that we might like. So after dinner with my family we decided to try it out. It was straight up hill! But at the end were these amazing views!

I felt like since we were so close that I couldn't let the girls pass on this view. So we hiked this at camp as well. I was too busy at camp to take any pictures. But did it and it went pretty good!

July
On the fourth of July Trevin and Libby decorated their bikes so they could ride them in the bike parade at my parent's ward breakfast. When Laura found out we were doing it she joined in too.

Unfortunately the bike parade turned into the bike race. Libby was riding totally out of control and Dustin jumped in to stop her. But then all of the kids swerved to not hit Dustin and they all crashed into each other. I was like a wreck in the Tour-de-France. Bikes were falling down like dominos. The bike paraded ended with everyone crying! Ha Ha. They all got over it quick and were fine to go to the real parade and the park.

Trevin also played baseball for the first time this year. He was on a machine pitch team and Dustin was the coach. Trevin didn't know any of the kids on his team, so it was good practice for him to make new friends before he switched schools.

The dad's of the other players were really into base and loved to help out. They were great! They really motivatied us to have more practices and teach the boys more. They also filled in as coach when we couldn't be there.

We weren't supposed to keep score but I'm pretty sure we won all but two or three games and those were really close so we could have won those too. They were really good and improved so much. I love baseball and can't wait for next year.

 August
We finally closed on our new house in Black Rock in August. We had to wait two and a half weeks longer that we should have, that really messed up our time line and we ended up having to live with my parent for two weeks because we weren't done. So I would not recommend Veritas funding for a mortgage. They are really unprofessional and caused us a lot of grief. Since we started the renovations so late we really didn't have time for anything else besides working on the house and moving for all of August. The only pictures I have are ones Libby took of herself while Dustin and I were working and this cute one of Trev on his first day of School.

Trevin is such a brave boy he just walked right into his class and sat down even though he didn't know anyone. I was terrified for him and almost cried. But he made friends so fast and he loves school. I am constantly impressed by the maturity of Trev. He's only seven and he is way braver than me!
