A lot of the month was taken up by work. We started helping out on the renovation of a duplex and the Hampton Inn in Kanab that Dustin is managing got into full swing.
But unlike last summer when we renovated our house all day and late into every night; this summer we made a point to enjoy our weekends and evenings. We even took time to go on a few trips and celebrate holidays. Our first trip was to Lake Powell. The Carter family is getting really huge so the house boat was CROWDED! So we pitched a tent on the beach. It worked out pretty well and we discovered that this is one tough tent. After multiple high wind and heavy rain storms it was mostly dry inside and still in one peice!
We tried to hit up the park and the library occasionally while school was out.
Trevin was excited to find a couple of book series that he was interested in. He couldn't hold back from diving into them.
Watching the Summer Games fireworks from our backyard. We are going to really miss that view!
Trevin's second grade class took a field trip to the Children's Museum in St. George. He had such a great time that he insisted we go back as a family. We brought Laura along and finished the day off at the splash pads next door.
The funny thing about the Children's Museum is that it is located in the building where I took ballet in high school. I spent SO many hours there. It was fun to go back even though it has changed quite a bit. Libby's favorite room (where she preformed many Frozen solos wearing a Little Bo Peep hat) was the room where I took class. We may have overstayed our welcome in that room.
Making sure that we put in enough time on our renovation, and making sure we had a fun summer meant a few things got neglected. Like the house work. Little Mr. Mckay took full advantage of my distraction and fully destroyed the house quite a few times and he loved every minute of it!
